A to Zen Massage Therapy

Techniques, pressure and focus areas will be customized to your specific goals and will include elements of both Swedish and deep tissue massage.

Custom Relaxation/Therapeutic Massage

Warm stones are used as part of the massage.  The heat helps muscles relax more quickly than in a standard massage, allowing deeper pressure to be applied without discomfort.

Hot Stone Massage

Myofascial cupping is a hands-on therapy where silicone cups are applied to your skin to create light suction. This suction lifts the layers of fascia (the connective tissue around muscles) and improves blood flow, tissue mobility, and healing.  The cups will be moved frequently so there will be only a small amount of skin marking after the treatment.

8 essential oils are applied to the back or feet   The oils have been chosen to focus on the areas of stress relief, immune enhancement, inflammatory response reduction, and homeostasis.

Essential Oil Massage

This is a gentle, nervous system focused treatment that helps your body shift out of "flight or fight" and into deep rest.  This is typically a fully clothed treatment with no oil used.  Massage techniques will be focused on fascia.  Working with the breath or noticing how the body feels may be included if appropriate.

Somatic Reset massage

A recorded meditation will play during your massage - your choice of either grounding or enlightening.  Guided imagery and the practice of yoga nidra will help you practice staying in the moment and notice more fully how the massage affects your body.

MIndful Meditation Massage

Targeted therapy usually focused on shoulders, neck, face and scalp.  Both traditional massage techniques and fascia focused work will be used as needed.  Intra-oral (inside the mouth) work is optional.

TMJ/Headache Massage

This massage is focused on stretching and softening the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. This is done through gentle sustained pressure and stretching of targeted areas.  No oil or lotion is used.

Myofascial Release (MFR)

This is a light touch treatment that focuses on the flow of cerebral spinal fluid throughout the body.  It is helpful for dealing with stress and/or chronic pain that may not be helped with traditional massage.  This treatment is done fully clothed.
